What is Hypnosis?

Hypnosis is an altered state of awareness, which we experience every day, naturally. It happens automatically anytime you become deeply relaxed or highly focussed. You've been in a hypnotic state if you've ever been absorbed in a great film, lost in a good book, or simply daydreaming about something which happened twenty years ago. The active mind becomes quiet and there is a slight shift in consciousness. Hypnosis simply takes you deeper into that shift in awareness, through techniques such as a guided visualisation or progressive relaxation. In this altered state, you can access your subconscious mind, in order to heal or release old fears, belief systems, patterns of thought and behaviour that do not serve you anymore, or are holding you back in your current life. At this level, real change is possible.

How does Hypnosis work?

Our subconscious mind holds the memories and perceptions of everything that we have ever experienced, even though we may not be aware of this consciously. This may include the events and experiences from our current life as well as those of previous incarnations. As the unresolved past continues to negatively influence our thoughts, behaviour and everyday life on an unconscious level, we may not understand why we feel or react as we do to certain situations or why the same unexplained symptoms or circumstances just keep repeating themselves. Often this prevents us from moving forward in our lives.

In the state of hypnosis, the subconscious mind can be accessed to release these memories, emotions and unhealthy patterns of behaviour and can be reprogrammed to respond in healthy, balanced ways of being.

Anxiety, panic attacks, anger, fear, phobias, obsessions, addictions, relationship issues, low confidence, nightmares, repeating patterns or inexplicable, recurring physical pain are all ways in which our unresolved past may be affecting our current selves.

 What is Hypnotherapy?

Hypnotherapy uses the state of hypnosis using special techniques such as regression and visualisation to help you address your problem, clearing away emotional baggage, transforming old thought patterns and behaviours into a new, positive way of being.

Will I lose control in Hypnosis?

Hypnosis is simply a state of altered awareness. There is a dual awareness, where you are aware of everything that is going on around you and you are in complete control; yet at the same time you are able to access your subconscious mind, which holds all the memories of your lives. Most people find being in hypnosis a very relaxing and restful experience.

Can everyone be hypnotised?

Most people can be hypnotised if they want to be and if they have the ability to relax. The more you are able to relax, the easier it will be. This is not stage hypnosis. You cannot be hypnotised against your will, or be made to do anything that you don't want to.

What can I expect during a session?

We will initially discuss your issues, how hypnotherapy can help you and agree on a plan. You will then be guided into hypnosis, which is pleasant and relaxing. The initial session is 2-2½ hours long. Subsequent sessions are usually 1-1½  hours long.

How many Hypnotherapy sessions will I need?

The number of sessions required depends on the type of issue you are seeking help for, as well as the intensity of the problem.

A single session is useful for general stress reduction, aura clearing, cord cutting or inner child healing. For long-standing issues, more sessions are usually required. Often, as few as three or four sessions can make a significant difference.

Packages are offered for those who are interested in multiple sessions.
